If you are planning to build a conservatory in the near future, then you should consider the overhead protection offered by conservatory roof blinds before you commence to build.  There are various options when it comes to protecting your conservatory from the sun’s heat and UV rays, but it is better to plan well in advance for whichever option you may choose.  In this article we will run through a checklist of actions you should consider.

· Have I got adequate roof protection?  Many homeowners do not realise the strength of the sun.  Sitting under a hot roof can actually be a lot more uncomfortable than sitting under the same sun in the open air.  Heat can build up in a conservatory rapidly and conversely these rooms can cool down dramatically when the sun goes down.  Roof protection can help slow down these dramatic fluctuations.
· What types of roof protection are out there?  There are many options open to you, especially if you have not commenced to build yet.  For glass roofs you can get solar controlled glass, which has very good protection against glare and harmful rays, similarly solar insets assist polycarbonate roofs protect the interior of the conservatory.
· Do I want more than just protection from the sun?  The main advantages to having conservatory roof blinds fitted to your sunroom is that in addition to protecting your conservatory from the sun, they also provide you with extra privacy, if you are overlooked by surrounding properties and they provide an element of luxury to your conservatory that other solar protection does not give.
· What types of roof blinds might I consider? There are various styles and types of blinds suitable for roofs on the market with roller blinds, pleated blinds and pinoleum binds being very popular  (Pinoleum blinds comprise wood slats that are woven together to form a very attractive blind).  You can even get external conservatory roof blinds fitted to your conservatory if you have a reason not to want blinds on the interior roof.
