It’s amazing to me how many people are into the whole Tinkerbell theme when five years ago you had to search the internet to find anything and forget finding stuff in stores! My daughter was nicknamed after the flying pixie not long after her birth. She completely embodied the character from her attitude to her blond hair and blue eyes.
Automatically when she grew out of her crib this was my inspiration to design and purchase items for her room. I got everything from drawer knobs to lamps that incorporated the sassy blond lady bird and spent a pretty penny to have things shipped from everywhere in the country. But Tinkerbell bedding was so impossible to find!
Thankfully after months of searching, the whispers of the new Tinkerbell movie coming out must have inspired the preempted sale of Tinkerbell items and we ending up finding it at a local bedding store. Since then a drove of sprite inspire garb has hit the shelves in such numbers that we were able to completely finish her room with more them enough. Our daughter, now going on six years of age, has even been saving stickers, clippings and calendar pictures to decorate her walls with her favorite character.
I’m so glad we grabbed this idea before its popularity and because of a family meaning, instead of what happens to be the “cool” or “in” thing for five year old girls. I just hope with all of this hype over all the other characters, the true sense of the real Tinkerbell, her temper and peter pan sense does not get lost in the shuffle. She is quite the funny little character and I hope the new generation of animators does not loose the true sense of which Tinkerbell is, and the reason she inspired our pretty little pixie to gain such a nickname.
